A contemporary fenland garden

Sweeping views of the open fields and the big skies of the Fens are the first things you notice when visiting this equestrian property. A couple of old brick barns had been sympathetically converted into a home and, now, the garden had to make it all work as one.
The design had to incorporate multiple outdoor seating areas to suit the time of year/day, vast planting beds to experiment with atmospheres and plant combinations… and no lawn, as there was already plenty of grass to manage in the paddocks! In keeping with the ‘modern rustic’ aesthetics of the buildings, the material palette is fairly minimalist, monochromatic and highly textured, providing a soft backdrop to the abundant planting.
